Slough Town Juniors: Weekend round-up

An update from Slough Town's Junior teams, who had a high-scoring weekend.

26/03/19

It was certainly a high scoring weekend for Slough Town's Junior teams!

The U12 girls played their semi-final against Orlando Belles. The young Rebels (otherwise now known as the Rebelettes) got off to a good start with Azwa scoring within a couple of minutes. Between Azwa and Ammara, they added to the scoreline, going in at half time 4-1 ahead.

The game finished 6-2 in favour of the Rebelettes, and with it a place in the final. Special mention to Athena, who stepped up to go in goal at half time when the Slough keeper became unwell.

Moving on to Sunday, the U16 boys again visited Ickenham. Having lost out on penalties there last week, they were up for the challenge with goals from Lewis, Jamie, Josh and Chris sealing a 4-1 win. Chalfont Wasps lost, so that makes the last few weeks of the season much more interesting.

The U14s travelled over to Thame to meet the league leaders, who had knocked them out of the League Cup earlier in the season. The team was a couple of players down due to injury, but the boys didn't let that stop them. Having gone 2-0 down early on, they fought back to 2-2 at half time with a quick fire double from Joseph.

Taylor netted a great free kick, Joseph completed his hat-trick and Harly made it five before Joseph then hit his fourth of the game, with a back heel finish. It was an amazing comeback and result, with the game finishing 6-2 to Slough.

The U13 boys met their most local rivals, Maidenhead Warriors (the two clubs share a ground). They too won 6-2 with goals from Michael (2), Ammar, Callum, Freddy and Ruben. It was great to see some different names on the score sheet.

There was disappointment for the U10 girls, who were strangely unable to raise a team, so their game was postponed. But all in all, it was a successful weekend!
