Following several conversations with Chris Flood in the past few weeks, we have mutually agreed to cancel his contract to enable him to move on after this weekend.
'Floody' has recently had a promotion at work which has seen an increase in his travel, and he has had to miss a couple of games and some training sessions as a result of this. Coupled with the fact he now has a young family, it has been increasingly difficult for him to manage the travelling from his Winchester home.
At this time he is undecided if he will play again this season, however if he does decide to play his wish is to move to a club closer to home, and we obviously respect this. He will leave us on good terms and with our best wishes.
Floody has been an integral part of our success in recent seasons with particular highlights being his goal in the play-off final at King's Lynn last season, his goal and performance at Gainsborough in the FA Cup and a hat-trick in our incredible 6-0 win at Leamington two seasons ago.
He will take his place in the squad for the last time tomorrow and at which point, with 8 league games remaining there will be an opportunity for younger players such as Dan Roberts and Francis Amartey to show what they can do as we look towards next season.
Finally, on the subject of strikers we received some positive news this week regarding Ben Harris, who saw a consultant and was advised he could expect to resume training at the end of this month.
