Slough fell to a Pierre Fonkeu winner as Dartford came from behind to win at Arbour Park, writes David Tancred.

The Rebels started the game off strongly, with the first chance of the game falling on 9 minutes to George Hunt after a brilliant through ball from Johnny Goddard set up the midfielder, however the effort was straight down the keeper’s throat.

On 12, Slough had another golden opportunity after Goddard found Josh Jackman in the box with the defender’s effort having to be cleared away from the goal by the Dartford defence.

The Rebels got their deserved lead on 19 minutes through Jackman, after a brilliant cross from George Wells found the full-back in space at the far post, volleying into the bottom corner with Joe Young standing no chance in the Dartford goal. This was the defender’s second goal of the season.

On 27, Matt Lench was able to get down the right-hand side and drill a ball into the six-yard area, the ball ricocheted off two Dartford defenders and almost rebounded into the Dartford goal.

Dartford started to create some chances and on 38, Samir Carruthers set up Jack Smith with a huge opportunity, however a brilliant block from Joe Dandy stopped the shot with Rhys Forster safely claiming the rebound.

Slough had the last big chance of the first half through Arnold Matshazi, after a quick throw from Lench set Hunt down the left-hand side with the latter finding Matshazi in the box. The forward turned away from the defender however his strike sailed over the bar.

Dartford came out for the second half much better, giving the Rebels defence a lot of work to do.

On 57 minutes Rhys Forster made a stunning fingertip save to deny Smith’s curling effort from the edge of the area, with the ball falling behind for a corner.

Charlie Sheringham scored the equaliser for Dartford on 62 minutes after Carruthers played a ball through to the striker, who made no mistake and slotted the ball past Forster.

Forster made yet another stunning save to deny Sheringham on 69, with the striker’s effort from the edge of the area being superbly tipped onto the post.

But Dartford took the lead on 76 minutes, which turned out to be the winner, through Fonkeu. Sheringham set up the forward whose strike went in off the post.

Slough pushed for a winner but were unable to create any great chances late on, with Dartford holding on for the three points.

That is now four defeats in a row for Slough, with Worthing at The A2B Stadium coming up next for the Rebels.
