Slough's unbeaten run ended at three as they lost to Braintree Town on Saturday afternoon at Arbour Park, writes Adam Novysedlák.

Slough started the game as the more active team, especially Kurtis Cumberbatch who caused a lot of problems for the away defence.

The first chance for Braintree came in the 21st minute when the visitors took a free kick and Kyran Clements got the ball, but his volley went wide.

Just after half an hour of play, Rebels’ Josh Jackman played a good precise through ball to Alfonso Tenconi, who hit the side netting.

Only one minute later The Iron had the biggest chance of the game so far, when Jean-Baptiste Fischer rattled the left post of Jonathan North’s goal.

In the 34th minute, Jackman was forced to leave the pitch due to an injury and debutant Joe Dandy replaced him.

Three minutes later, the away team caused more danger for the Rebels. Matthew Moloney made a cross to Gianni Crichlow who was found at the far post, but North made sure Crichlow’s shot didn’t find a way in.

Braintree finally broke the deadlock from the following offensive effort. The Iron launched a counterattack and at the end Crichlow found himself in a good position and chipped the ball over North and into the far corner. 0-1

Crichlow started to feel more comfortable on the pitch as he was the one that created the first dangerous chance of the second half, too. He tricked his defenders, continued with the ball at his feet but Scott Davies stepped in and made a crucial interception in his own box.

Just before an hour of play, North made a brilliant save when he spread his legs and prevented what looked like a certain goal.

Unfortunately for The Rebels five minutes later the away team doubled their lead. Crichlow pulled the ball back to Stefan Ilic who found the bottom corner of North’s goal. 0-2

In the 70th minute, Crichlow created another dangerous chance for The Iron. He teased the Slough defence and sent a tantalising ball into the box which was diverted by Lee Togwell who kept it out of the danger area.

After this defeat Slough fell to 13th position in the National League South table, two points in front of today’s opponents.
