SLOUGH Town romped to their biggest Berger Isthmian League, Premier Division, victory this season at Wexham Park on Saturday, to collect three more vital points and their second £40 win bonus in the space of three days.

The Rebels gave a fine display of finishing at its best and could even afford to have a Barry Friend penalty superbly saved by the Carshalton goalkeeper in the second half.

However, one had to feel slightly sorry for Carshalton who certainly did not deserve this thrashing. On occasions, they split the Rebels defence with some fine moves which were almost rewarded in goals.

But in the end, the main difference between the two sides was Slough's lethal finishing once in front of goal - which has rarely been bettered this season. The goals came like this:

* 13 minutes: A Keith White free kick on the left was flicked on by Micky Kiely to Dave Russell at the far post. Russell rose superbly to knock the ball across the face of the goalmouth and Johnny Bishop emerged from a ruck of players to prod it home from close range. 1-0.

* 45 minutes: Vic Akers and Barry Friend combined well on the left and the eventual cross was flicked on by Kiely for Bishop to knock home from about three yards with the Carshalton defence split wide open. 2-0.

* 60 minutes: Pat Morrissey's long free kick into the Carshalton penalty area finally found its way to White, who had got in on the blind side of the defence, and his low stopping header went in just inside the post. 3-0.

* 71 minutes: Friend's corner found the towering figure of Eric Young, and the central defender firmly headed home his 10th goal of the season. 4-0.

* 76 minutes: A free kick from Morrissey was knocked on by Young to Kiely, and after his header had rebounded against the crossbar, Russell knocked the rebound over the line for a well deserved goal. 5-0.

* 89 minutes: Kiely completed the scoring when he netted his 30th goal of the season and one he richly deserved for another hard working performance. White's pass split the Carshalton defence and the Rebels' striker rounded Langford before hitting the ball home from a difficult angle. 6-0.

In between these four second half goals, Friend had a penalty superbly saved by Langford after 69 minutes when the keeper threw himself to the right to palm his well placed spot kick away. And at the other end, Ian Milne missed a golden opportunity after 25 minutes when he hammered Alan Ives' cross over from three yards, while Richard Teale made a fine save to foil Brian Greenhalgh with 46 minutes played.
