We had a great start to the weekend with the U10 girls playing a great game, showing massive improvement on their first outing.
They played well with only five players and were arguably the better team and will gain in experience as they play more. Hopefully the addition of two new players by the next game will set them up nicely.
The U12 girls followed that up with their first win in their new division beating Marlow Youth 3-0 with goals from Azwa and Ammara.
Despite the wind, it was like a summer day at Mercian on Saturday, unlike Wycombe Rye on Sunday when a game of water polo might have been more appropriate. The U14s boys didn't let the rain dampen their spirits, beating Wycombe Saints 9-0 with three goals apiece from Harly and Joseph, two from Owen and James got the final one, scoring his first goal in a Slough shirt. It was an amazing all round performance for which Dave struggled to pick a man of the match, but finally awarded it to Harly, playing upfront for the first time and bagging a hat-trick. Particular mention goes to the Saints keeper, who made some brilliant saves.
The U16s cruised through to the next round of the League Cup with a dominant display away at Penn Colts. The game was played in horrible conditions but the young Rebels played some neat controlled football despite the driving rain. First half goals from Jamie (2), Luca, Ajay, Raoul, Tom K and Tom Mac crowned an impressive first half. Second half goals from Luca, Tom Mac and Josh put the boys in to the next round by a score of 10-0.
The U13s were due to play later in the day to avoid the traffic of the Slough Half Marathon, but by then the weather had taken its toll and the game was called off.
All in all a good weekend. Well done to Leo, Noyus and Saara for keeping clean sheets!
