In this match at Slough, the home club were greatly handicapped by having to take the field with two injured players, Denton being hardly able to raise a trot, and Werrell playing forward instead of back, owing to a ricked back.

On one occasion Gibbons, who throughout played a capital game, sending a shot which appeared to hit the post supporting the back of the net, and rebound into play.
The Norfolkâs claim to a goal, but Slough asserted that the ball hit the goal post and had not entered the net. The referee being unable to decide the point consulted the linesman, and after considerable argument Mr Winslow gave Slough the benefit of the doubt.
Slough was seen to much greater advantage of the change of ends but the game which was witnessed by a large number of spectators ended in a pointless draw.
