This game was played under very bad conditions, the ground being under water in many places. The late arrival of the referee caused five minutes of each half to be cut. Many of the spectators expected the game to be cancelled, but, after a short inspection, the referee allowed the game to go on. Straight from the kick off Slough pressed hard, but they could make no impression on the Sutton goalkeeper, who seemed to delight in the awful playing conditions - saving what seemed to be certain goals time and again.
When Cox was brought down in the penalty area a penalty was awarded but Cox shot over from the spot kick. Turner scored a fine goal for the homesters after a left wing interchange of positions, and ten minutes after the interval Cox equalised with a good header
Within two minutes the homesters were ahead again when Turner gave Luff no chance of saving a fierce drive. Slough were now on the defensive and it was against the run of the play when a long shot by Snow was deflected into the net by a Sutton defender Five minutes from the end Turner ran through to score the winning goal for the homesters.
To the end Stephens in the home goal, was in fine form, and he was the outstanding player on the field.
