Three late goals from Worthing ended the Rebels' FA Cup run in a 3-1 defeat at Arbour Park, writes David Tancred.

The game started off with few chances for either team, both trying to get a foothold in the match.

Worthing had the first real chance of the game on 10 minutes with Sammie McLeod putting the ball across the face of goal, yet no one was able to make contact with the ball.

Slough started growing into the game with Ben Harris getting his head on the end of a long throw in and the Worthing keeper Male tipping the header out for a corner, this was the start of some consistent pressure from the Rebels.

On 31 minutes there were some shouts for a penalty for Slough when Lee Togwell’s header was blocked by a Worthing defender, potentially striking his hand.

The ball was in the back of the net for the Rebels on 34 after good work from Lench sets up Harris to slot the ball into the bottom corner, however the lineman had his flag up which was a controversial one, with Harris later proven to have been onside.

Slough ended the half on top with Aaron Kuhl having a shot from the edge of the area being saved by Male in the Worthing goal.

The Rebels continued from where they left off in the first half with Goddard heading the ball just over the bar after Guy Hollis’s long throw in caused havoc in the box.

On 55 minutes came the introduction of George Cowmeadow, the striker coming from Swindon Town on a one-month loan.

Slough opened the scoring on 59 minutes in style, with Lee Togwell striking a beautiful volley from the edge of the box into the bottom corner. The keeper stood no chance as the Rebels' hard work finally paid off.

Worthing got the equaliser on 82 minutes after a deflected shot from Kane Wills evaded Jonathan North and rolled into the net.

The visitors took the lead late on in the 88th minute with Ollie Pearce heading home from a corner.

And Worthing sealed the match deep in stoppage time with Pearce running through on goal and rounding North to end the Rebels' FA Cup campaign.

The result ends Slough’s winning run at home, with an away trip to Braintree Town in the National League South next on the cards for the Rebels.
