Slough Town are out of the Buildbase FA Trophy after this home defeat in Third Round Qualifying.

Fresh from the drama of their midweek penalty shootout victory in the FA Cup, the Rebels made six changes along with a change in formation, whilst Weston were boosted by several recent signings.

An early long throw by Guy Hollis saw Ben Harris through on goal but Weston goalkeeper Luke Purnell did well to rush out and block the shot.

Miscommunication in the Slough defence resulted in a mishit back pass from Hollis which Marlon Jackson capitalised on, slotting the ball low past Turner as the visitors from Somerset took an early lead.

From a free kick which was half cleared by the Weston defence, Manny Williams was able to control the ball and shoot but there were too many bodies in the way and it was blocked.

Slough improved and just before the half hour mark, had a great chance to equalise. An accurate pass by James Dobson saw Williams able to turn forward and play in Ben Harris. Harris drove towards goal before cutting back to get away from his defender to shoot but his effort was turned around the post for a corner.

Moments later Slough attacked again with a long ball down the left wing to Dobson who crossed low across the six yard box. Purnell came out to intercept but misjudged, leaving Harris with a chance to tap in at the back post and level the scores.

Slough were only level for a matter of minutes as Weston regained the lead. A corner was worked out to George Nurse 25 yards out who calmly, but brilliantly curled a left footed shot into the top corner.

That goal came a little against the run of play as Slough had upped the tempo and were looking the more likely to take the lead. However, Slough were level again just five minutes later as Ben Harris for a second time, heading a floating ball from Dobson powerfully past Purnell.

The final minutes of the half saw both keepers called upon again as they made good saves to prevent their side going in behind at half time.

Slough made a change at half time with Ben Harris, who had taken a knock early in the match, being replaced by Mathew Stevens.

The first chance of the second half fell to Weston as a good ball forward nearly saw Jackson though with a tap-in but Turner did very well to slide tackle the ball to safety.

At the other end some good interplay between Chris Flood and Dobson saw the former lay off to Simon Dunn on the edge of the box to strike the ball towards the top corner but Purnell got a strong hand to it and pushed it away.

Dobson then nearly put the Rebels in front as a long range free kick took a huge deflection to leave Purnell wrong-footed, but he just had time to scramble across goal to block the ball.

Midway through the second half Weston got their third and what would turn out to be the winner. A low cross in from the left found Gethyn Hill unmarked to tap in.

Slough then found themselves down to ten men for the final minutes as Hollis was shown a second yellow when shielding the ball out of play. The Slough defender nudged an opposition player who collided with the advertising hoardings, and referee Lee Brennan deemed this to be excessively forceful. Mark Nisbet was later shown a yellow card for his protests.

A few minutes before the end Slough had a chance from a corner as the ball came loose and Stevens turned to make space but his shot was easily saved.

The final chance of the game came to James Dobson from a free kick but his effort was just too high.
