Slough rounded off their pre-season campaign with a win against Southern League Premier South side Hartley Wintney at Fleet Town.

The Rebels made light of the difficult playing conditions to record a comfortable win, with Ben Harris and Manny Williams on target in the first half.

Hartley Wintney threatened early on with a volley which sailed just wide of the top corner, but Slough stamped their authority on the match and took the lead with 33 minutes played. Warren Harris ran at the ‘Row’ defence before slipping it to Ben Harris, who sidestepped a challenge and fired in on his left foot.

Jack Turner needed to make a decent low save minutes later, but Slough doubled their lead five minutes before the break.

Ben Harris went to ground under a challenge which the hosts claimed was outside the penalty area, but the referee pointed to the spot, allowing Williams the chance to tuck the ball into the bottom corner, although the Hartley Wintney keeper got a good hand to the ball.

In the second half, Warren Harris produced a good save from the Hartley keeper and Perry Coles tried his luck from distance, with the keeper doing well to hold on to the ball as it bounced up off the uneven surface.

Coles had a better chance to score seven minutes from the end after linking with Chris Flood, but the keeper saved with his legs.
