Slough Town twice came from behind to draw with National League South Wealdstone in their second pre-season match.

At a drenched Arbour Park, trialist Paul Hodges impressed in the second half and made it 2-2 three minutes from time with a delicate header from James Dobson’s cross which looped over Wealdstone’s substitute goalkeeper Raven Constable and into the net.

On 12 minutes, Jack Turner made a fine save from Ricky Wellard, pushing the midfielder’s shot aside. Two minutes later though, the visitors took the lead as Dan Fitchett finished Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick’s low cross from close range.

Slough’s best attack of the half came as Chris Flood burst forward with the ball and played it right to Gavin James, but the striker put his shot wide of the far post.

George Wells, another who impressed on the night, did well to control and long pass from Matt Lench before beating two men, but he sent his shot into the side-netting.

The Rebels made four changes at half time and found an equaliser 10 minutes into the second period, Flood heading a cross from Lench past goalkeeper Jonathan North.

Further changes followed for both sides, and the Rebels handed Brad Wadkins and Manny Williams their first minutes of pre-season. Wadkins almost made contact with a dangerous whipped cross from Dobson, but Constable got there first to block.

Wealdstone threatened an equaliser as Dylan Kearney’s shot was blocked by Mark Nisbet in the six yard box, but Slough could not prevent a second Stones goal, and Liam Harwood restored the visitors’ lead from close range on 84 minutes.

But three minutes later Hodges, who entered the fray at the start of the second half, popped up with the equaliser.

Slough’s next match is against Tooting & Mitcham United at Arbour Park on Saturday, KO 13:00.
