Neither Slough Town nor Weymouth could do enough to break the deadlock at Holloways Park, with the visitors, hoping to claim a playoff spot at the end of the season, forced to take only a point.

The result was a fair reflection of a game which was short on clear chances, but whilst Slough sit comfortably in mid-table, the point does little for Weymouth's promotion hopes. The Rebels, though, can look back on another solid defensive performance and a good debut for central defender Tom Williams alongside the in-form Guy Hollis.

The Dorset side's tricky winger Chris Shepherd brought a fine save from Mark Scott with 12 minutes played, as he picked up a pass, drove towards goal and unleashed a fierce shot from outside the box which was turned behind at full stretch.

This came after a strong start from the Rebels, with good link-up play between the Harris brothers, playing as a strike partnership. Scott Harris flicked the ball on for Warren Harris, who took the ball into the box but could only fire into the side netting. Later, Jhai Dhillon made a storming run into the box and put a cross-shot wide of the far post.

Warren Harris saw another shot deflected wide, whilst Weymouth's attacks largely resulted in misplaced final passes, and the two sides really cancelled each other out as the match progressed. Scott Harris' penalty appeal was waved away vehemently by the referee, as the alleged handling offence happened at very close range.

Shepherd appeared to be Weymouth's main attacking threat on the counter-attack, and on one such occasion he broke away at pace, but Dhillon got back well to snuff out the danger.

Weymouth applied more pressure in the second half but not enough to breach Slough, and a long shot from Mark Cooper and a tame effort from Mark Molesley was all the visitors could muster as Slough stood firm.

A good chance arrived when Guy Hollis was cautioned for bringing down Molesley outside the box, but Shepherd hit the defensive wall with his free kick.

Slough substitute Lee Barney blazed the Rebels' clearest chance well over as the game entered the final ten minutes. Fellow substitute Gurkan Gokmen chipped a pass through to him, but Barney could only volley off target.

With two minutes remaining, Gokmen forced Jason Matthews into a rare save with a rising shot from the edge of the box. The resulting corner came to nothing, and instead Slough needed to react quickly to block from substitute Cameron Brown after Ben Thompson had squared the ball to him.

Weymouth had one final chance to try and take the points in stoppage time, but Brown's shot was gathered by Scott after initially spilling the ball.
