Slough rounded off an eventful season back at Southern League, Premier Division level with a 3-1 defeat at Dorchester Town.

Despite a fairly decent first-half showing in Dorset, during which Scott Harris’ well-taken goal brought Slough level at 1-1, goals from Ben Watson and Jason Brookes sealed the three points for the home side and ensured Slough would end the season in 16th place.

Tom Moran was on hand early on to head the ball off the line as Dorchester threatened, whilst Billy Jeffreys failed to control the ball well enough to get a shot away after Jake Parsons’ corner fell to him.

Bradley Tarbuck served Slough with a warning, firing two shots off target from outside the box, but his third effort led to the opening goal. Tarbuck’s effort was deflected, and beat Luke Williams at his near post with Slough angry that a throw-in in the build-up had been awarded to the hosts.

Dorchester kept up their assault on the Slough goal with Jeffreys, Dan Read and Ryan Parsons all doing well to get in blocks.

Half chances fell to Moran, whose shot was blocked, and Harris saw a tame effort easily saved by Alan Walker-Harris.

Slough came back into the game with Jake Parsons shooting just wide after cutting in from the right wing, but the Rebels levelled on 32 minutes. Jake Parsons did well to play in Harris, and the striker held his shot until Walker-Harris went to ground, and casually lifted the ball over the keeper.

Minutes later, Jake Parsons lifted the ball over the top for Harris, but Walker-Harris was on hand to claim the ball just in time.

Half time saw Slough replace George Short with wide player Gurkan Gokmen, but the Rebels had to withstand further pressure from Dorchester, with Dan Smith shooting well off target and forcing Luke Williams into a diving save.

Dorchester took a stranglehold on the match, with Slough struggling to get out of their own half. Williams tipped behind another long range effort, but could do nothing to prevent Dorchester regaining the lead on 66 minutes.

Ben Watson lifted a shot over Williams from out wide, with the ball landing in the opposite corner of the net.

Eddie Smith was able to get in an acrobatic effort which Walker-Harris tipped over, but not before another goal line clearance from Ryan Parsons and a couple of crucial saves from Williams.

Slough were not finished though, and Ben Edwards found himself one-on-one with Walker-Harris, but he was thwarted by the keeper, with the follow-up shot going just wide.

Williams was kept busy, saving again, but was beaten one final time in the last minute as Jason Brookes made it 3-1, wrapping up the points for Dorchester.
