James Dobson's free kick was enough to seal victory for Slough in their latest warm-up game at Marlow.

Joint managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood will be pleased to get their first win of pre-season, but very disappointed having lost two more players to injury - Jake Parsons with a nasty-looking knee injury, and George Short with an ankle injury - after suffering heavy challenges.

In an entertaining first half, trialist Sam Barratt impressed, firing wide after good approach play. Adam Cornell also hooked over the bar from inside the six yard box, and Luke Knight could only hit a post after being played in one-on-one.

James Dobson stepped up towards the end of the half to curl in a superb free kick off a post, giving the Marlow goalkeeper no chance, and giving Slough a deserved lead.

In the second half, the game became more disjointed, with Parsons needing treatment on the pitch for around five minutes before limping off in pain. Short followed him, after Marlow put a shot just wide and Cornell had an effort cleared off the line.

Cornell narrowly missed out on a superb goal of his own, cutting in from the right but putting his curled effort inches past the angle of post and bar.

Despite a lengthening injury list, Slough face Maidenhead United at York Road on Saturday in their latest warm-up game.
