Slough eased to a 12-0 victory at Combined Counties Division One side Sandhurst Town in their opening pre-season friendly at Bottom Meadow.

Joint managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood gave game time to the vast majority of those players who have been training with the club so far, and in sweltering conditions, most played 45 minutes.

Trialist Aaron Lansiquot opened the scoring after around 20 minutes with a goal at the near post, and Darren Wheeler doubled the lead with a free kick which the Sandhurst keeper could only push in under his own crossbar.

Slough quickly made it four through Ed Smith and Lansiquot again, and George Short made it five before half time with a strike from the edge of the box.

Both sides made a number of changes for the second half and Slough kept up the assault, with Jack Broome scoring twice, first with the aid of a big deflection from 25 yards, then a tap-in after a shot had been parried.

Ollie Burgess got in on the act, capitalising on poor defending to lob in from the edge of the box, and within a minute he scored his second and Slough's ninth after he was played clean through on goal.

Dan Read played the ball across to Scott Harris for a tap in for number ten, before Read himself scored a one-on-one.

Just before the final whistle, Read grabbed another to make it twelve and a very satisfactory afternoon's work in difficult conditions - a performance which Baker described as "very professional".

Slough now look forward to a trip to Holyport on Tuesday evening.
