Slough's latest pre-season friendly ended in defeat at Stag Meadow, with Dan Burnell's header not enough to prevent the newly-formed Windsor FC from winning their first ever match in front of a healthy crowd of 327.

In a bright start from Slough, Burnell went close to opening the scoring, but the new-look Windsor side, including former Rebel Yashwa Romeo, began to gain the upper hand.

Burnell was frustrated again, denied what looked like a clear penalty after tussling with Kyle Anthony.

Striker Ryan O'Toole, formerly of Burnham, fired one effort wide before opening the scoring on 25 minutes. He burst clear of an unfamiliar-looking Slough back four, featuring Dean Harper at left full-back, and sidefooted neatly past Fanner, becoming the first player to score for the newly formed club.

Windsor were the better side for the remainder of the half and went into the break fully deserving of their lead.

The Royalists started the second half well, with O'Toole threatening again, firing one effort into Jamie Jackson's side-netting before dragging another across the face of the goal.

But Windsor were not to be denied a deserved second goal, and the busy O'Toole was involved again, this time laying on a pass to man-of-the-match Joe Chandiram to blast a shot past Jackson with 54 minutes played.

As the second half wore on, Slough began to press forward much more, showing some neat touches and having good passages of possession, but without much in the way of an end product.

The Rebels did, however, manage to pull a goal back with around an hour played, when Paul Coyne's cross was headed into the six yard box by Dave Woozley for Burnell to nod into the net just in front of the Windsor goalkeeper Mark Banfry.

Sinclair was then denied by Banfry at his near post, but, in truth, this was a rare piece of goalmouth action - and, after Ben Hudell whipped a free kick just wide, Ryan Ashe went closer still, clipping Jackson's crossbar with another free kick.

Slough almost denied Windsor their victory at the death - however Woozley's header from a Coyne corner hit the post and rebounded to safety.
