Slough Town bounced back from two disappointing defeats with a comfortable, if not spectacular, victory over fellow strugglers Bracknell Town.

Sixteen-year old Alex Tuttle made his debut in goal for Slough due to Richard Barnard’s unavailability, whilst 17-year old Stanley Mugisha was handed his first start in midfield.

The Rebels got off to the best possible start after just five minutes. Following a long pass forwards, Lee Charles was able to control the ball, before taking his time and rounding ‘keeper Del Lewis.

Twelve minutes later, Davies almost added a second, but fired straight at Lewis. However, the striker made no mistake soon after. A Danny Jefferies cross from the right was turned in by Davies in the middle, with the ball squirming through the legs of Lewis.

Bracknell came out stronger in the second half with a bolder attacking formation. And just minutes into the second half, Joel Havermans was able to follow up after Tuttle had pushed away his initial header at goal, to halve the Rebels lead.

The Robins battled hard to grab an equaliser, but efforts from Penfold and Matthews were dealt with by Tuttle, whilst the defence in front of him were showing great determination to get blocks in.

Slough dealt the killer blow to Bracknell in the 71st minute. Terry Davies battled well to retain the ball on the left wing, before crossing in. The ball sailed over the heads of the visiting defence and was chested down by Jefferies, who blasted home from 10 yards to give Slough their two goal cushion back.

Near the end, Penfold missed two good chances to score for the visitors when well placed – but Slough held on to record a massively important three points.
