Slough's recent good form, with wins against Billericay and Staines in the league, came crashing to an abrupt half as they were deservedly dumped out of the FA Trophy by Southern League Division One West side Leighton Town.

Slough had started well enough and had taken the lead through Matt Miller, who had recently returned to the club, with his first goal for the club since January 2004. Having exchanged passes with Terry Davies, the striker curled one into the bottom corner from the left hand side of the box.

The home side equalised when a long throw was delivered into the box. It was cleared up into the air and a Leighton forward was allowed to run in unopposed and finish past Drake.

Minutes later, the home side took the lead. A cross came in from the right and an attempted shot was blocked. The ball fell perfectly to a Leighton player on the edge of the area who smashed home past Drake.

Slough, struggling with injuries and suspension with Jamie Jarvis and Darron Wilkinson clearly not at full fitness, battled on but the home side looked comfortable throughout.

Within two minutes of the second half restart, Leighton had extended their lead. Chris Johnson finished from close range after a corner from the right.

Slough did come back into the game and efforts from Leigh Mason and Terry Davies went close, but neither troubled the keeper.

The home side wrapped up the comprehensive win as Leighton defended a free kick and Slough had left Johnson on the half way line on his own. A long ball forward saw the striker run through unopposed and he was able to slot under Drake.
