Slough crashed out of the FA Cup at the Second Qualifying Round for the second season running although will take many positives from this performance against their higher league opponents.

At a wet Cherrywood Road, the home side had much the better of the first half and Kieron Drake had to be at his best to repel a number of efforts from the home side but could not prevent Bradley Gurness from opening the scoring. Slough failed to clear their lines from a through ball and the Boro midfield collected the ball, feeding it into Garness as he ran into the box. He skipped past the challenge of Steve Daly before seeing a bit of fortune as his shot bounced off Drake and up into the net.

Farnborough went close to extending their lead before the half was out as a shot from outside of the area had Drake's dive to his right beaten but the ball cannoned back off the inside of the post and away from danger.

The second half was a lot more even with Slough coming into the game in seach for an equaliser but the home side were still looking the more dangerous of the two sides and they were the next to score.

Matt Patterson ran with the ball from just outside the area with no real pressure on him as he broke into the right hand side of the box and he finished well across the goal to double Boro's lead.

Slough moved Marc Leach upfront for the final minutes in the hope of getting something out of the game but the home side held out easily and progressed into the next round.
