An injury-time equaliser by Slough Town winger Byron Bubb helped the injury-hit Rebels claim an away point against a battling Wembley side.

Slough had eight key players missing for various reasons, and they were forced to hand Assistant Manager Eddie Denton his first start of the season at right-back, with midfielder Darron Wilkinson moving to an unorthodox centre-back position. The match also saw Dave Rainford make his return to the Slough midfield after re-signing from Heybridge Swifts last week.

The first-half seemed to typify Slough's season in so many ways. The Rebels were clearly on top of the match, and had the majority of possession - but yet again they failed to create many chances. Their best chance fell to Tony Boot when a cross from the right by Ryan Spencer looked set to find the young Rebels striker, but he failed to get a touch on the ball when he looked certain to score.

Soon after this chance Slough's injury list was added to when Andrew Deaner was forced off the pitch with a shoulder injury after colliding with a Wembley defender. Midway though the half Steve Hilton was tested for the first time when a corner from Ryan Spencer swirled in the wind forcing the Wembley goalkeeper to turn the ball over the bar close to his goaline.

Early in the second-half Slough did take the lead when Tony Boot beat the Wembley offside trap and scuffed his shot past Hilton into the back of the net. Many would have then thought that Slough would have gone on to add to their scoreline, but the goal only seemed to spur on the home side and they were soon level six minutes later.

A ball though midfield found Wembley's Gary McLaughlin in space and he calmly lobbed goalkeeper Dominique Jean Zepherin to put the home side back on level terms. Buoyant by their equaliser Wembley soon went in front when poor defending left substitute Akram Suliman unmarked in the penalty area and he hit the ball past Zepherin into the net.

The remaining seventeen minutes saw action at really only one end, as Wembley sat back looking to hold onto their lead and Slough pushed forward in hope of an equaliser. It looked like they would deny the Rebels an equaliser until Byron Bubb hit a slightly deflected effort that went into the back of the net over Hilton.

Despite so many injuries this was a game that Slough should have won and Manager Steve Browne will be the first to admit that.
