A hardworking, if not spectacular performance was rewarded as the Rebels claimed a well deserved point away to table topping Bognor Regis Town. Manager Steve Browne had Junior Haynes missing for the Rebels with a broken arm, so he compensated with his loss by playing a 4-3-3 formation; packing out the midfield, with Clement James and Michael Bartley on the wings.

The Rebels started very brightly, but it was Bognor who had the first opportunity of the match. Simon Funnell played Micheal Birmingham through on the left. His cross seemed too deep, but Guy Rutherford produced a spectacular volley at the far post which went just over the bar. Slough had their first real attempt on goal on sixteen minutes. A long goal kick from Gary McCann was flicked on by Simon Ullathorne for Bartley who outpaced his defender before fireing over the bar, when he should have at the very least hit the target. Despite a lot of first half possession for the Rebels they only calved out one more real opportunity when Mark Hawthorne shot over the bar from the edge of the area.

It was the home side who nearly went into the break a goal ahead. Steve Stott was adjudged to have fouled Andy Walker. Funnell's free-kick from the edge of the area drifted just past the post. The second half saw Bognor pressurise the Rebels defence more with the home side looking much more threatening. It was Funnell again who came close to grabbing the opening goal early on, but McCann raced from his line to block strikers effort.

Then half way through the second half McCann produced the save of the match. Substitute Nick Wyatt swivvelled and turned Gary Fitzgerald only to see McCann somehow turn the ball over the bar. Soon after that effort Slough came within a inch of grabbing the lead. Bartley beat three players with an excellent solo run. He then saw his deflected shot go inches past the post with goalkeepr Craig Stoner well beaten.

With three minutes remaining Slough could have grabbed three away points, substitute Sammy Winston beat Charlie Balfe for pace and crossed into the area, but Kevin Murphy cleared under pressure from Ullathorne for what would have been a certain goal.
