Man Of Match: Mark Fiore

Played in conditions that were in complete contrast to the arctic weather endured just three weeks earlier in the North-East, Slough introduced their two new loan signings - Carl Emberson and Russel Edwards.

Slough took control of the game early on with both McKinnon and Sayer have scoring opportunities. The deciding goal came after just thirteen minutes Fiore beat the Gateshead defence on the left before tucking a low ball into the visitors penalty area. The visitors' keeper came out to claim but was put off by the advancing Sayer and saw the ball hit the post before crossing the goal-line.

Thereafter, Slough pressurised without reward. Gateshead's only real opportunity came midway through the first half when a Dobson header hit the post before being cleared.

The second-half, although uninspiring, saw evidence of a solid Slough defence, with Gateshead rarely given the opportunity to threaten. The three points keep Slough in second spot as the final score read Slough Town 1 Gateshead 0.
