A disappointing crowd of just over fire hundred turned out to see 43 year old Tommy Hutchinson and his team from the valleys.

Bat those who didn't turn out on Tuesday night should not think just because there were no goals, they picked a good one to miss.

This was an all action encounter with both Merthyr's Gary Wager and the Rebels' Trevor Bunting performing well between the sticks.

Bunting was brought into the game in the very first minute with an excellent save from a close range header, and in a see-saw night periods of pressure went first one way and then the other.

Former Chelsea, Millwall and Orient defender John Sitton made his debut on the pitch where he played for Orient in the famous FA Cup Replay six seasons ago, and created one excellent chance for Neal Stanley.

Just before, McKinnon had hit narrowly over the bar with a first time shot on the edge of the box after lovely work from Stanley.

Abraham and Doyle for Merthyr and Darren Anderson for Slough were all cautioned in a good display by referee Graham Poll.
