Slough Town's players may have been expecting a pat on the back from manager Joe Arpino after gaining their fourth Isthmian League win of the season on Tuesday but instead they got a rocket!

Mr. Arpino explained: "We eased up in the last 20 minutes and could have paid dearly for it. During that period only goalkeeper Richard Teale kept his concentration. It's useless playing good football for 70 minutes if we then suddenly stop."

Earlier in the match Slough had dominated, with Barry Friend celebrating his return to the side after playing in Canada by making some lively runs down the left.

Slough should have been given a penalty in the 36th minute when Kiely was brought down in the box, but instead referee J. Barker awarded a free-kick outside. A minute later Slough went ahead, however.

Cooke's corner from the left was touched on by Lee and Kiely thundered in with a powerful header which Lee helped into the net.

In the 55th minute Slough got goal No. 2. Gane headed down and, with Gedney failing to clear, Metcalfe forced the ball past him and knocked it home from close range.

A hectic goalmouth scramble then saw shots by Metcalfe and Lee charged down, and Gane failed to connect as the ball ran across the goal line.

The only other incident of note was the ejection of half a dozen youths who had been fighting.
