Slough Town ended their spot kick jinx on Saturday when Alan Gane's first-half penalty gave them three Isthmian League points.

Gane, who had taken two of Slough's four missed penalties earlier this season, coolly tucked away the spot kick after Dave Russell had been fouled by Peter Gaydon in the 40th minute.

Slough manager Joe Arpino was very critical of the Carshalton tackling. He stormed: "There were far too many late tackles by Carshalton. I feel two of their players were lucky not to be sent off."

There was a flare up in the second-half when Alan Walker fouled Tim Turl and Turl retaliated. Both players were booked and Turl was left nursing an injury.

In the first-half Slough, kicking against the wind, did not seriously trouble keeper Ian Finch until they were awarded the penalty, although Russell and Lee went close.

Burke and Walker both shot over for Carshalton, who should have scored in the second-half when Dennis missed a fine chance and Walker saw a shot rebound off keeper Porter.

Russell had a good effort saved at the other end, while appeals for a penalty were rejected when Lee was brought down. Cooke, who came on as substitute for the injured Underwood, also went close.
