A FINE display by 23 year old midfield star Errol Rhoden, who Slough had 'borrowed' from Dulwich Hamlet, helped them earn an Isthmian League point at Walthamstow's expense last Thursday.

Rhoden and his Dulwich clubmate Ossie Bayram turned out for Slough, together with Kingstonian's Graham Cooper, as Town again found themselves with only nine fit players.

Rhoden's superb distribution and quick reactions often had Avenue worried and he is the sort of player Slough need to strengthen their squad next season.

The game was quite eventful, especially in the second-half when a hailstorm caused a four minute hold up and turned the pitch into a paddling pool.

Both teams went close to scoring in the first 20 minutes. When Porter punched the ball to the edge of the penalty area Knapman promptly netted but the keeper had been fouled by Mooney.

Then a flowing move between Davies and Lee led to van den Berg having a header well saved by keeper Moore.

Avenue had the edge, however, and the tall, aggressive Mooney - playing without a number on his shirt - made his presence felt by going close with two headers.

Slough eventually got into the game and Bayram wriggled past a defender to produce a shot which hit the far post and would have rolled into the goal had Knapman not made a desperate clearance.

But Bayram was replaced by substitute Bartlett in the 67th minute. Two minutes later a hailstorm soaked the ground and referee Mr. G. Gordon of Raynes Park took the players off in the 71st minute. They returned four minutes later by which time the hail had given way to rain.

Players repeatedly toppled over on the now slippery pitch. Slough adapted reasonably well, with Reardon having a shot stopped on the line by Blackman, and Bartlett bringing a great save from Moore. But Avenue almost snatched victory in the closing stages as first Rayner and then substitute Dear brought diving saves from Porter.
