League Unknown
Slough put a team in the field against Hounslow on Saturday, and the league encounter, and considering the strong side Hounslow had out, they did well to run the homesters to a goal, the result being a win for the Middlesex club by one goal to nil.

In the first quarter of an hour, Hounslow had the best of the game, and seem to adapt themselves to the heavy state of the ground better than the visitors. Tolman especially got in some energetic work, and Poole, who had hardly recovered from his injury a fortnight previous, was hardly able to cope with speedy left-winger, who gave West a considerable amount of work to do.

On at least three occasions Hounslow ought to have scored, but indifferent shooting and good play by Werrell prevented them, the latter making, amongst others, two brilliant saves.

Then Slough settled down to work, and once had hard luck in not scoring. Only 30 minutes each way was played, owing to the late arrival of Slough, and at the end of the first half-hour, the score sheet was a blank.

The second half was splendidly contested. About halfway through A. E. Palmer scored from a pass by McNaught, with the ground shot quite out of reach of Werrell, after the goalkeeper had saved once from the same player.

This proved to be the only goal of the match, for although Slough had the better of the exchanges in the latter part of the game, the forwards failed to beat Anderson.

Wilmot played a fine game at back for Slough, tackling splendidly and feeding the men in front with wonderful judgement. The heavy going seem to suit him admirably and he was always on the ball. Denton and Stevens always played well together on the wing, but Fountain and Cox were hardly up to their average.
