We hemmed in the Park during the first half, but could not score, but directly from the re-start Bert Angell brilliantly cut in and registered the all important goal.

We held the Park for the rest of the game with confidence. Both Wakefield and Fussell made welcome returns to the side. Charley had an easy afternoon but Gil was here, there and everywhere. He and the newcomer, Stan Holton, certainly pulled their weight at inside and made the team dovetail into a work-manlike combination.

Jack Gorman caused that fine centre half, Thompson, a deal of worry, and the wingers, Angell and McCrohan, were a dangerous pair.

Elderfield succeeded in mastering the elusive and speedy Weston.

Harry Rowe gave a very good display and was never in trouble. The half backs were in grand form.

Williams, in his quiet, effective manner, neatly smothered his opposite number, and Brown completely blotted out the visiting centre.

Jimmy Thomson, playing his farewell game, produced his best. We shall miss this great little Scot, and are very sorry to see this fine half line break up, but call of Service give no alternative.
