Stan Lovell

Stan Lovell Position: Defender

Bio

They say that good things come in small parcels and in the case of Stan Lovell this is certainly true. Locally born reserve right back who attended Langley Secondary School and was signed from Pathfinders.

Stan joined Pathfinders as an inside-right but soon switched to right-half, from which position he captained Pathfinders in their most successful season-1962-63.

While with Pathfinders he had trails with Reading, West Ham and Fulham and also played at right-back in the Berks and Bucks N.A.B.C. Representative XI.

He joined the Rebels at the start of last season, and despite his inexperience in senior soccer, quickly established himself as the regular right-back in the Reserves. He made his Athenian League Division I debut at the end of last season, at Worthing on the right wing. But though he likes an occasional saunter upfield he prefers to stay at full-back.

Stan was a sheet metal worker on the Trading Estate.
