In terms of us we were obviously delighted with the victory at Eastbourne on Saturday having gone down to ten men so early, it showed a real togetherness, and fantastic desire, obviously Matty Stevens will get the headlines for his hat trick, however it was an all-round team performance.

Good afternoon and welcome to Arbour Park for today’s FA Cup second qualifying round against Sholing.

The last time we wrote notes in the FA Cup it was before a second round proper game in front of the live TV cameras, where we hosted a team 4 divisions above us, this time the boot is firmly on the other foot, with us being three levels above Sholing.

However this is the ultimate beauty of the FA Cup and the reason it is the best club cup competition in the world, whereby you get to play teams you might not usually, and whereby you all start the season with your own FA Cup dream.

Sholing have had a brilliant start to the season, and having seen them first hand tear Newport IOW apart on Tuesday night it confirmed to us that today’s game will be a difficult game and a real banana skin. The side they have there have been together for a number of years, and a high portion of their players have played in excess of 200 plus games for the club, with a couple over 500.

Having won the FA Vase 4 years ago, they are all too aware how to perform in big games, and they have a number of players who have played at a higher level, and could still do so now. I believe they took voluntary relegation a couple of seasons back for cost reasons, so in reality they are in my opinion a step 4 team.

Having said that if our lads can perform at the levels we know they are capable of then hopefully we can secure the victory and kick start another FA Cup run, however there will be a number of upsets in the Cup today, and we have to hope that we are not one of them.

In terms of us we were obviously delighted with the victory at Eastbourne on Saturday having gone down to ten men so early, it showed a real togetherness, and fantastic desire, obviously Matty Stevens will get the headlines for his hat trick, however it was an all-round team performance.

In terms of the squad we will be missing Mark Nisbet today through suspension, however he would have been unavailable due to a family wedding anyway, and Simon Dunn is still injured, however again he had always been down to miss this one for the same reason.

Anyway enjoy the game and please get behind the lads.
