Organisational changes

A number of organisation changes are announced by Chairman Steve Easterbrook.

22/09/16

The club is pleased to announce that John Porter will be taking on a new role as General Manager responsible for all operational matters.

I have been working very closely with John over the past few months and as we continue to become familiar with our new home at Arbour Park, now is the ideal time to make this appointment. Many of you will know John, but throughout the past few months he has shown himself to be hardworking, professional, organised and most importantly approachable.

As we look to the future we have also decided to form a ‘steering group’ which will look after non-operational matters and look towards the ‘longer term’ path forward for the club. This group will be made up of Mike Lightfoot, Kay Lathey, John Porter and myself.

What the past few weeks have also shown me is that we need to change the ‘make up’ of the current committee to reflect the changes that Arbour Park has presented. The current committee has largely been in place for many years and served us well and I would personally like to thank everyone who has given up their valuable time and served on it. In fact I would like to thank all volunteers who have stepped forward and helped this club to achieve what we have accomplished and it goes without saying that as we develop we are always in need of good new volunteers!

However we are now faced with new challenges which need to be managed and addressed, so a new operational committee is to be formed. This committee will evolve and may take a bit of time to get right, however to begin with it will comprise of Paul Lillywhite, Mike Lightfoot, Bernard Devine, Kay Lathey, a representative from the web team and Adrian Gomm. Any meetings that take place will be chaired by John Porter.

Existing committee members who are no longer on the new committee will of course continue to carry out the important work that they do and will have a direct relationship with myself, John and the newly formed committee.
