Mark Betts’ new look U18s kicked off with a fine win against Windsor's Academy.

Mark Betts’ new look U18s kicked off with a local derby against Windsor's Academy.

Slough started on the front foot with a high tempo, and it was in the third minute when Oskar Evans’ inch perfect ball split Windsor's full back & centre half and Sherman latched onto the ball before smashing it into the bottom corner.

Slough looked strong and played great football for the first 20 minutes, not letting Windsor get any foothold in the game. The Rebels defended well, mopping up any pressure from the home side. Windsor's defence and keeper somehow managed to keep the score to 0-1 at the break.

The second half started with both teams playing good passing football, both keepers and defences holding firm.

It was in the 78th minute when Pritpal Raju got in behind full back, took the ball to the bye line and crossed hard and low for the oncoming Sherman, who side-footed into the Windsor net.

Slough went close again in the last 10 minutes but Windsor's keeper made saves to ensure the final score stayed at 0-2.

Betts said it was a good squad performance with every player playing a vital part. He was also happy with the way in which the team played and conducted themselves on the pitch. Betts also received complements from the Windsor manager on a deserved win.

Slough’s next game is away to Hanwell Town on 31st August, followed by a home tie against Andover in the FA Youth Cup.
