Slough Town FC are delighted to announce that a new manager has been appointed for the Slough Town PALS Pan Disability team.
Alan Meredith will take up the reins from Danny Turner at the start of the new season. A former pupil at Slough Grammar, Alan played local football in Slough for over 20 years, becoming a level 4 referee and referee assessor.
For the past 5 years he was a coach for the Chelsea FC Foundation's Disability Inclusion programme, with his team winning the Surrey FA Football for All League in 2012 and 2014.
His team ethic focuses on enabling adults with a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities to participate in organised football, in a safe, caring and enjoyable environment designed to maximize players’ abilities.
His autistic son David, 25, has represented a Chelsea Disabled team for 8 years, including tournaments in Germany, Malta & Ireland, and his daughter Jeni is youth team Physio at Maidenhead United.
Alan lives near Newbury, is married with 3 adult children and is employed as a Sales Director for a UK magnetics manufacturer in Swindon.
We are so pleased that the team is able to continue after their founder and manager, Danny Turner, moved away from the area. The team compete in the BOBi League, playing tournaments all over Bucks, Berks and Oxfordshire throughout the season.
New players are always welcome and the team is looking for potential sponsors and voluntary helpers. Please contact gensec@sloughtownfc.net for details.
