Looking Ahead: Hendon Invitation Cup

Slough look forward to two games this weekend against Farnborough, and then either Hendon or Carshalton Athletic.

22/07/16

After a good week's training we move onto the Hendon tournament and two games in two games.

We know our first opponents will be Farnborough, and dependant on the result we will face either Hendon or Carshalton on the Sunday.

Knowing Farnborough very well, this will potentially be our toughest game of pre season, as the side they have put together would for me comfortably be a top 8 side at Step 3. Bringing in the likes of Eddie Smith, Nic Ciardini, Josh Huggins, Keith Emmerson, Dennis Oli, Curtis Osano and Terrell Forbes shows they mean business, and have to be huge favourites to win the Southern Central.

We will be without a few for this weekend in Simon Dunn and Warren Harris who are both away on stag weekends, Lee Togwell and James Dobson who are both on holiday, and potentially Guy Hollis who is going through a tough time due to an illness to his mum (though he is aiming to try and get there for Sunday).

With the two games in two days we have brought in two trialists for Sunday in central midfielders Matt Stockill who is 18 and recently been released from Scunthorpe and lives in Windsor, and also Jacob Cook who is a similar age and just been released from Watford, and who is also local to us.

The plan will be to get everyone a 90 minutes over the course of the weekend, and for some this will be their first 90 minutes of pre season.

Therefore the squad for the weekend will be as follows:
Mark Scott, Sam Bunting, Josh Jackman, Paul Stonehouse, Joel Jacobs, Brad Hewitt, Mark Nisbet, Dan Hicks, Adam New, Guy Hollis, Lewis Putman, Harrison Gilkes, Gurkan Gokmen, Charlie Losasso, Nathan Webb, Sean Fraser, Adrian Sear, Matt Stockill, Jacob Cook, Charlie Moone, Lee Barney, and Gavin James.
