Volunteers required: Your Club Needs You!

Can you volunteer some of your time on matchdays to help run the club?

We are about to embark on a hugely exciting time for the club as we put 13 years of homelessness behind us and move into a brand new stadium in the heart of Slough.

This is something that we have long dreamed of, feared might never happen but always hoped that we would see the day.

Well, that day is now fast approaching. A huge amount of work has gone into getting this far. Over the next few weeks several other people will be stepping up into the vital roles needed to make this work. Our needs on match day over the past 13 years have been limited as many of the essential functions have been done for us, but now it is down to us to provide the match day experience that we all want.

We will have key people in roles, but we will need, more so now than ever before, an army of volunteers who are prepared to take turns at making it all happen. Some of the areas we will need to cover will include parking, catering, first aid, marshalling, setting and clearing up, ball retrieval and the list goes on.

We are looking to do as much of everything ourselves, in house, as possible and not have to resort to employing people to undertake jobs for obvious reasons. We will also undertake to ensure that all volunteers are able to watch the game and their voluntary duties will not prevent them from doing so.

This is your club and we need your help.

We would like to have a pool of people from which we can call on to support those who have taken on a responsibility. The more people who offer to help, the less often any one individual will be called upon.

So here is how you can help run your club. If you are willing to join this pool for volunteers let me know via email (; in person at a pre season game; or call or text me 07792 126124. Or pass your details to me via any one of the committee. We need to know your contact details and what areas you are happy to help with.

We will also need some volunteers to help with catering. This may interest someone who isn’t so bothered about watching the football. If you know of anyone who enjoys cooking and may be interested in helping us, please let me know. This may be someone’s partner / parent / neighbour. Please have a think and let me know.
