STYFC weekend update

After a weather-affected couple of weeks, the Slough youth sides returned to action last weekend.

27/01/16

This weekend saw the launch of a new venture for 6-8 year olds.

On Saturday mornings from 9-10am at a cost of just £4 a session, kids can just turn up and pay on the day. The first week saw reasonable numbers attend and judging by the smiling faces at the end, the kids enjoyed it.

It was a slightly rusty start for some of the younger teams, all in action against Burnham Juniors today. We all go again next week.

U11 Youth man of the match was given to Callum Romaine, but special mention to keeper Leo Godding who made some fantastic saves. We hope the knee is ok.

Of the U11 Rebels, a special mention to both keepers for some outstanding saves.

Neither the U12 team nor the U13s played this weekend.

The U14s lost a very close game 2-1 to Holmer Green. Slough could and should have put the game to bed in the first half but could not take their chances. Holmer Green scored with their first chance and Cameron Walsh equalised just before half time. The first ten minutes of the second half were dominated by Holmer Green who took the lead during this spell. Holmer Green managed to hold onto their lead withstanding the constant pressure from Slough. Man of the match was Sameer.

The U16s progressed into the next round of the League Cup in a highly charged game, winning 4-2 in extra time with goals from Tanatswa Matanbanadzo, Toby Crouch, Reece Brophy and Bailey Jackson.

The U18 game midweek fell foul of the weather once again.
