Looking Ahead: Potters Bar Town

After returning to action with a win over Hitchin on Saturday, Slough now turn their attention to the Red Insure Cup and a trip to Potters Bar.

25/01/16

After an excellent win in the league against Hitchin on Saturday, we now turn our attentions to the League Cup 3rd round game away at Potters Bar, where hopefully we will get it played at the third attempt.

With this being the only cup competition we remain in and our position in the league, we would really like to get a run going in this competition, and we will be treating Potters Bar (who are on a great run of form) with the utmost respect.

In terms of squad news, we will be without Gurkan Gokmen who has had to fly to Turkey due to an illness in the family, we send our best wishes and we hope to have him back this weekend.

Paul Coyne will continue his comeback this week with Ascot, although a slight knock Saturday may mean that he does not play Tuesday, but if not will be back in their team for Saturday.

Dan Hicks has come down with a chest infection and is a major doubt for tomorrow; also Searsy is unlikely to play a part, as he is still in a bit of pain with his ankle. He will therefore take a rest for the time being, but be available as and when we need him.

Obviously we have Ryan Hope back from suspension, and Wes Harrison will join the squad also as defensive cover.

With the illness to Hicksy we have moved quickly to sign 35 year old defender Tom Williams on Southern League forms, having trained with us on Thursday night. He is a local lad, who has had a fantastic professional career having played close to 300 league games for the likes of QPR, Peterborough, Swansea, and Barnsley amongst others.

He has not played competitively for a while, however has kept himself fit, and is potentially going off to play in the US. We felt that with the squad numbers we have at present, he would be a great person to involve when available and needed. He will come straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game.

We are also in the process of trying to bring someone else in by the end of this week, however we are just waiting on a couple of things before we can confirm this.

Squad will be from: Mark Scott, Sean Fraser, Jhai Dhillon, Guy Hollis, Dan Hicks, Tom Williams, Wes Harrison, Warren Harris, Lewis Putman, Leigh Rumbold, Ryan Hope, Nathan Webb, Charlie Mpi, Eddie Smith, Scott Harris and Lee Barney.
