Five join the Rebels

Joint managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood announce five new signings to the club.

03/07/15

We are pleased to announce the following new signings to Slough Town FC.

We have signed keeper Mark Scott from Oxford City. Mark is very experienced for 24 years old, having been a pro at Swindon and spent a lot of time on loan at Salisbury in the Conference South, including playing at Sheffield United in the FA Cup Second Round. We felt that we needed to start the season with competition all over the pitch, and he will team up with Luke Williams to fight it out for the number one spot.

Next in the door is central defender Gary Macdonald. 'Macca' is someone we know very well, and who has an excellent career in professional and semi-professional football. He joins us from Hayes and Yeading, and will help add the experience we need at the back that we lacked last season.

Twenty-seven year old centre half Craig Scott joins us from Marlow, where he was captain having joined the club last summer. He joined Marlow after relocating from Newcastle to London, where he played for a number of sides in the Northern League. He is a solid no nonsense centre half, and comes highly rated.

Right-back or central midfielder Nathan Webb is the next recruit, who joins us from Kingstonian. Most will know him from his time at Burnham and Beaconsfield, however he has also had Conference South experience with Farnborough and Wealdstone. He has bundles of energy and will be an asset to the squad, and also gives us options in a number of positions.

Finally we have also signed much sought-after striker Lewis Putman. Lewis came to our attention a few seasons back when he scored 80 plus goals for Oxhey Jets at step 5 level. Despite trials at a few pro clubs he signed for Wealdstone where he was part of the side that tore us to pieces in that pre-season. An ACL tear put his promising career on hold, however a season at Step 4 where he was amongst the league’s top scorers, means we feel we have an excellent addition to the squad who will fight for a place in the team with Eddie Smith, Scott Harris and Dan Read.

In terms of a couple of the promising youngsters, Oscar Betts will join Marlow this season to gain some senior experience, and when Matt Bonnett gets fully fit he will do something similar.
