Fleet Town friendly cancellation

It is with regret that Tuesday night's pre-season friendly with Fleet Town has had to be cancelled due to injuries.

16/07/14

Please be advised that it is with regret that we have had to cancel the Fleet Town friendly next Tuesday.

It is no secret that we have a bit of an injury crisis on our hands already and are currently without the following for this weekend’s game v Maidenhead: Eddie Smith, Johnnie Dyer, Scott Harris, Warren Harris, George Short, Jake Parsons and Adam Foulser, all of whom are injured, plus we also have Jamie McClurg, Tom Moran, Seb Castello and Sam Barratt all unavailable due to holidays and prior commitments.

This currently leaves us with 10 fit players and will be having to pull a number of players in just to fulfil the fixture.

If it had been anyone but Maidenhead and the fact that they are opening their new stand, along with the other planned activities, we would have looked to cancel this game, however, we will do our utmost best to put out a side that will be competitive.

It is because of this that we have come to the decision to cancel the Fleet game, as in reality it would mean the same players having to play the full 90 minutes, and at this stage of pre season gives you more chance of picking up even more injuries.

At present we hope that Johnnie, George and Eddie can return for AFC Totton, Jamie McClurg will be back from holiday and hopefully we will have some news on a couple of the trialists also.

We are not quite sure to the extent of Warren's injury, so we will not push him. He hardly played last pre season due to his groin, yet started the season in great form.

Jake we will also assess, however, the early prognosis is that he did some damage to his knee.

Testing times after two pre season games, however much better now than midway through the season!
