Looking Ahead: Rugby Town

A look ahead to Saturday's crucial match between two playoff contenders at Holloways Park.

On Saturday, Slough Town will welcome fellow promotion hopefuls Rugby Town to Holloways Park in a crucial clash between the sides currently occupying third and fourth place in the table.

With the five sides chasing top of the table Daventry Town being separated by just four points, a positive result for either side will be keenly contested as both sides look to cement a place within the play off positions.

Rugby, whilst having recently dropped down to fourth in the table, led the way for a long time earlier on in the season and in David Kolodynski and Seb Lake-Gaskin have two of the most potent strikers within the League having notched 34 and 25 goals in all competitions for Rugby so far this season.

This will only be the eighth meeting between the two sides, having only first met in November 2010 with the two sides records being very even. Averaging at over three goals per game in the encounters so far, supporters should be confident that there will be goals in the game on Saturday. Hopefully this hasn't jinxed it to a 0-0 draw!

When the two sides met at Butlin Road in September, ten man Slough put in an extremely good performance at both ends of the pitch and came away four nil winners, in a repeat of the scoreline of the previous match between the two sides at Butlin Road. Ed Smith bagged all four of the Rebels goals on the day and will be looking to show his own goal threat, having bagged thirty goals himself for Slough this season. Video highlights are available from the game from the match report.

Rebels Joint manager Neil Baker added his thoughts on the clash for the weekend.

"On Saturday we welcome Rugby to Holloways Park for what is shaping up to be a real cracker of a game.

"Having had an excellent victory at Ashford on Saturday, Jon and I have managed to get out and watch Barton and Kettering this week, whilst also training on Wednesday night.

"As already reported, Dave Woozley and Steve Duff will both miss the weekend games, however we are again grateful to Met Police who have again allowed us the services of Dan Sintim, who started and played a full 90 minutes in Saturday’s 3-0 win for Met, and also young Seb Castello will come back into the squad, having been out playing a number of games for Badshot Lea.

"Adam Cornell picked up a bit of a dead leg in midweek, however will be fit for the weekend, though Scott Harris (despite significant improvement) will not be fit.

"With Wooze and Foulser both missing, it means that we needed to pick a skipper for the weekend, and the three players that came to mind are Clurgy, Guy and Ryan Parsons, however we have opted for Guy on the basis that he has done this job for us a number of times in the past, and despite not necessarily being the nosiest on the pitch, he does lead by example and we often find that he manages to find that little bit extra when skipper. We also believe that both Parso and Clurgy will lead the team as they have done over the past few months, armband or not."

The squad will be as follows:

Jake Somerville, Sean Fraser, Ryan Parsons, Guy Hollis, Dan Sintim, Jake Parsons, James Dobson, Warren Harris, Ben Edwards, James McClurg, George Short, Gareth Risbridger, Seb Castello, Eddie Smith, Johnnie Dyer and Adam Cornell.
