Last Wednesday, representatives from Slough Town Football Club popped along to Thames Hospice to present them with a cheque following the fantastic fundraising campaign run between the two organisations on Saturday 3 March.

With the day dedicated to the amazing work done by Thames Hospice, which included bucket collections, kids’ games, online donations, the raffle and auction of the one-off green kits and the opportunity for Thames Hospice staff to come and enjoy a match at Arbour Park.

Through all these events and the wonderful generosity of Rebels fans, we raised a total amount of £2,848.50 which is a fantastic achievement.

Player-manager Scott Davies said: “The partnership between the football club and Thames Hospice was a fantastic idea and one that I hope can be a working relationship for years to come in order for us to support them as best we can.

“To see firsthand just how things work at the hospice was a real tear-jerker in so many ways and I feel privileged to have been shown around and been able to meet many special people along the way.

“It’s great to be able to give back to our local community and it’s something that I feel really strongly about going forward.

“Lastly, a massive thanks to everyone that played their part in a memorable day and I’m sure, as a collective, we are already looking forward to the next one.”

Community Manager Ade Gomm added: “The support shown by everyone at the club, from the directors, players, management, volunteers and fans was absolutely brilliant and shows just how amazing this club is.

“The feedback from the hospice was so positive as they wanted to show that community events like this help to raise awareness of their services as well as the chance to raise some much-needed funds.

“On our visits to the hospice, we spoke to so many fabulous staff members whose work makes a huge difference to patients and families who use their facilities. They were all overwhelmed by the response from the football club.

“Once again, on behalf of both organisations, we would like to thank everyone for their support.”
