Slough Town Football Club is thrilled to partner with Slough Libraries to help enhance children’s reading skills through the Summer Reading Challenge, a national program that inspires and motivates children to visit local libraries and read for pleasure during the summer.

This year’s theme is “Ready, Set, Read!” and will celebrate play and participation and encourage children to engage in reading, games and sport in any way that best suits them.

Slough Town Football Club Community Lead Adrian Gomm said: "As we continue to build partnerships within the local community, this was a challenge we really wanted to be involved with.

“With Slough Town FC and Slough Libraries working together we can maximise the benefits and make a valuable contribution to literacy levels, physical fitness and the development and wellbeing of the borough’s children."

As part of our partnership, Slough Town FC staff, players and volunteers will be ambassadors to the challenge and will be promoting the challenge to our Junior teams and also our Junior membership holders. Further, we have invited Slough Libraries to bring a pop-up library to Arbour Park for a couple of league games during the summer to make it easier for children to be involved.

First team manager Scott Davies said: "We are delighted that the club is forming partnerships with Slough Libraries for the Summer Reading Challenge and will be showcasing how football and sport can work together to enhance children’s confidence and all round skills. Please pop down to your local library, pick a book and have fun."
