A little update from me…

Writing this at the beginning of June with the majority of our squad having been retained, five new faces added and one more on the way, I would say I’m pretty pleased with how business has gone so far.

With it being my first summer as the manager of this club, it’s been the polar opposite of what I’m used to at this stage of the year. Usually it’s feet up, with a deal signed counting down the days until pre-season starts but keeping an eye out on who the club have brought in to join our playing squad.

With it now being down to me to choose, it’s been days of countless phone calls speaking with players, agents and managers along the way, deciding which players will add to the group that we already have, and that’s no easy task!

However, with the players we’ve retained, there’s no doubt that the fans will be happy – and with the ones that have joined, I for one am excited. The three players in Dan, Gary and Mickel joining from Bracknell Town all add to the squad in different ways.

Dan with his leadership, his defensive ability but also that will to win which has been evident to see in the games I’ve watched this year. Gary is a crowd pleaser, someone to get the fans on the edge of their seat with his running power on the ball, of a similar ilk to a Francis Amartey. Lastly, Mickel will add a huge physical presence in attacking areas and hopefully cause real problems for opposing defences. Young, still raw but someone I have really high hopes for.

In addition to those three, Jeanmal Prosper signed from Chesham United. His versatility will be extremely useful over the course of the season with his ability to play in many different positions to a high standard. ‘Jammers’ is someone I’ve admired for a while now and think he will fit the group perfectly.

Finally, Nathan Minhas. It would have been quicker to say who didn’t show an interest in Nathan over the summer rather than the clubs that did. A proven goalscorer in the league below with over 50 goals in two seasons, and someone I believe will be more than capable in backing it up and carrying on from where he left off with Beaconsfield Town. There’s no denying that a top marksman headed up our shopping list and I’m delighted to get his signature.

It’s going to be one hell of a ride in National League South this season but one that we will be more than prepared for. With a whole lot of new faces and many trips to the seaside, I’m excited for what’s to come. There are many appealing away days for the Rebel Army, days I know that you’ll be travelling in your numbers to support the boys and I, and for that we are as grateful now as we will be on the day.

Let’s carry on from where we finished last season with Arbour Park bouncing. We’ll do our bit on the pitch, you do your bit off it and let’s make it a season to remember.

Thanks as always for your continued support.

Scotty.
