We are looking for volunteers to help run our PALS pan-disability team – can you help?
As many people will be aware, Dave Carpenter was a huge supporter of the PALS team and was the main volunteer presence. His passing has left a huge void and he is greatly missed, both personally but also in respect of the tasks that he undertook.
We desperately need someone (or more than one person) to step into these roles - none of which are too time consuming and all of which are rewarding - and help support manager Alan Meredith and the existing team of coaches.
We need someone who can take on the responsibility of organising transport for the players and ensuring that the players know where and when they need to be to get picked up, and also buying drinks and snacks. If this person wanted to attend games and training they would be very welcome, as it is easier to deal with people when you know them. The role would include travelling on the bus, so there is an additional adult besides the driver – and we are also looking for drivers.
Please consider whether you have the time and desire to work with adults with disabilities, enhancing their life experience, increasing their social interaction, health and confidence whilst playing football. Also consider whether anyone outside of the club’s usual circles could help, or even outside of football entirely.
