Slough Town PALS looking for new players

An update from Slough Town PALS Manager Alan Meredith.

30/04/18

Performances improved in April although the losing streak continued for another four games, usually losing by the only goal of the match.

Our work rate has risen, fitness levels are improving and we made fewer mistakes in dangerous areas, whilst our aim remains development for next season and enjoying playing at a good level.

Not once this year have we been able to field our strongest team, but this has provided opportunities for the younger and new players to take part in competitive games, however it was good to welcome back Brandon Sweeney and Michael Northcott after a long absence.

We finished the month with a creditable scoreless draw against league leaders Banbury thanks to some top saves from keeper David Meredith, whilst Paul Wade was desperately unlucky hitting the post at the other end.

Now we can defend at this level we need to start scoring some more goals and are particularly keen to find some strikers if anyone is interested in joining us.

Our season continues until the end of May and we hope to confirm several friendlies throughout the summer. I also want to stress that we are an adult pan-disability team with an average age of 25, and not a youth team as is often presumed.

Our thanks to everyone that contributed to our cause at Dave Carpenter's funeral and helped raise a fantastic £450.

Finally we will be looking for a new shirt sponsor for next season so please get in touch with club secretary Kay Lathey if you are able to help.
