Slough Town PALS to enter FA Peoples Cup

News of Slough Town PALS' friendly fixture against QPR last Saturday and their entry into the upcoming FA Peoples Cup.

14/02/17

Slough Town Football Club are delighted that its PALS pan-disability team will be entering The FA Peoples Cup.

The FA Peoples Cup is a national 5-a-side tournament in which the Slough Town PALS have entered a team in the Adult Male Disability Category.

The regional heats take place at Goals Reading on Sunday 26th February comprising at least 7 teams playing a mini-league format. The top two teams in the league will progress to the national semi-finals.

This will be quite challenging for our young team as all but one of the opposing teams compete at a higher level.

Further information on the FA Peoples Cup can be found on thefa.com.

On Saturday morning (11th February), the PALS team entertained QPR at Arbour Park in a friendly fixture.

Despite the cold and snow it was good to see a few supporters enjoy an entertaining game which we eventually lost 7-2 despite taking a two goal lead.

Manager Alan Meredith stated:

“Match practise was the priority after our winter break so I wasn't particularly worried about the result against a more experienced and physically stronger team.

“We have a small squad that had to battle against a QPR side who were able to field different teams each half.

“However our lads were thrilled to play our first game here, whilst QPR enthused about our excellent facilities.

Special thanks go to Kay Lathey for running the tea bar and Roy Gumbs for refereeing.
