Slough Town shortlisted for Get Berkshire Active award

Slough Town Football Club are delighted to have been shortlisted for Community Club of the Year in the Get Berkshire Active Awards 2016.

Slough Town Football Club are delighted to have been shortlisted for Community Club of the Year in the Get Berkshire Active Awards 2016.

The other nominees are Royal Windsor Rollergirls and the Thames Valley Kings Wheelchair Basketball Club. The winner will be decided by a public vote, details of which are to follow, and will be presented to the winner at the GBA Awards ceremony on Friday 10th February 2017 at the Hilton Hotel, Reading.

There was more great news for the Rebels as long-serving physiotherapist Kevin McGoldrick won the Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of the 32 years’ service he has provided to the Club. Kevin will receive his award at the GBA Awards evening.

Last but by no means least, Slough Town Football Club’s chairman Steve Easterbrook is shortlisted for the award of Volunteer of the Year, in recognition of the effort he has put into bringing the Club back home after an absence of 13 years. The winner will be announced at the GBA Awards evening.

The Get Berkshire Active Awards recognise the wonderful contribution local people make to inspiring others to take up physical activity, as well as celebrating individual and team excellence in sport.

Categories range from Sports Personality to Lifetime Achievement to Health Project of the Year. Three new categories have been introduced this year, namely 'Active Primary School, 'Active Secondary School' and 'Outstanding Team Performance of the Year'.

This year is the fifth for the Get Berkshire Active Awards in Association with Energycentric. The full shortlists for the Awards can be found here.
