STYFC weekend update

A round-up of the action across the youth divisions from the weekend.

21/11/16

Slough Town's U11s, U12s and U14s were all in action at the weekend.

The U11s played another Burnham side this weekend. With only one substitute, all of the boys played most of the game, using that one sub to rotate the midfield to keep it fresh.

Everyone worked really hard and unlike previous weeks managed to create several chances. Luke Fiander and Callum Graham both went closest with shots just wide of the post.

It was a really even and entertaining match. Slough's superstar keeper George Clerkin made some amazing saves with both hands and feet. He bravely came out to dive at their forward's feet and took a kick to the back of the leg, but got back up and carried on!

They took their chance late in the first half and although George got a hand to it, it still hit the back of the net.
Ammar and Thillan, the two wingers, didn't stop running for 60 minutes and really impressed.

The manager was really happy with the boys attitude and all round play. Not having trained for two weeks, everyone is looking forward to getting back to working hard at training this week.

The U12s maintained their current run with a 4-2 victory against Burnham Blues in what seemed to be the first home game in ages. Goal scorers were Malachi McDonal (2), Daanish Ansari and Joseph Dingui.
With a weakened defence due to injury, well done to all who stepped into the back line to cover.

The U14s put in a much improved performance against the league leaders.
Despite conceding a couple of soft goals the boys were still in the game and were rewarded when Philbert Arko scored the best goal of the match.

With the score at 1-2 the boys started the second half brightly but again conceded another poor goal. Their heads didn't drop and despite conceding again the boys competed well against a very confident Downley side.

The final score of 1-4 flattered the league leaders, who haven't yet dropped a point. This improved performance plus the easing injury crisis hopefully means the team will get some points on the board in the near future.
