STYFC and PALS weekend update

A round-up of the weekend's action across the Rebels youth teams, and an update on the PALS team.

01/11/16

The U12s were away to Real Saracens at the weekend. This wasn't the best of games, played on very long grass.

The young Rebels took a two goal lead into half time with goals from Owen and Malachi. The second half saw three more goals, two from Malachi and one from Joe. Real Saracens pulled one great goal back for a final score of 1-5.

Well done to all the lads, especially Malachi on his hat-trick. That result puts the lads back into second place with two games in hand.

Despite the return of Ted Salt from injury, the U14s injury situation deepened for their home match against Wendover.

The boys unfortunately fell behind to a scrappy goal midway through the first half and then conceded again just before half time.

They started the second half with more determination and things were looking brighter, however, the visitors added a third goal that should have been cleared on several occasions. Nojus Tronovas pulled off several fine saves for Slough but the fourth goal was another close range tap in from a ball that should have been cleared.

Unfortunately boys playing out of position to cover injuries to key defenders is taking its toll and the situation doesn't look like improving in the next few weeks.

The PALS pan-disability Team were in action on Sunday for their second tournament of the year at Oxford City. Despite moving up a level into the Second Division, the lads still managed to pull off three wins and a draw. We will have more detail on this in due course.

Well done to Alan and the lads and thanks to the volunteers who make the day possible.
